In honor of Sustainability Month, GLEAM Network is spotlighting industry leaders that are leading the way when it comes to sustainability in the restaurant and foodservice industry. Today we had the privilege of chatting with Tatiana Meira, Director of Daylife and Programming, 1 Hotel South Beach
Tatiana Meira is the Director of Daylife and Programming at 1 Hotel South Beach, the leading mission-driven, luxury lifestyle resort in Miami Beach. With over 13 years of hospitality management experience at Miami Beach’s premier hotels, Tatiana conceptualizes, executes, and oversees a full calendar of events spanning from wellness & mindfulness, food & beverage, and large-scale, city-wide events. Tatiana was recently selected to be featured on Ocean Drive Magazine’s “The List” for her immeasurable impact in the hospitality industry. With her finger on the pulse of the freshest emerging trends, and a keen sense of community-building and grassroots public relations, Tatiana has a demonstrated history of transforming events that generate media headlines, influencer buzz, and community impact.
Tatiana, thank you so much for chatting with us! You have a very interesting position at 1 Hotel. Can you share more about your role?
I’m the Director of Daylife and programming at 1 Hotel South Beach. I work with brands to conceptualize and produce events in all our venues based on music, food, and beverage, culture, sustainability, mindfulness, and wellness. My passion, especially during COVID, is to create mindful moments, intentional events, focused on connection and community with a focus on sustainability.
Within my role, I can bring awareness about sustainability to the Miami community and guests from around the world visiting 1 Hotel South Beach. I partner with organizations and sustainable F&B brands for events and activations. In all our venues we ensure that all our food and beverage concepts feature fresh, organic, local, and sustainable fare. We are plastic-free and give items a “second life”.
What are some things that we as a community can do to be more sustainable?
- Reduce personal single-use plastic imprint. One item at a time. We use refillable waters at the hotel and eliminated single-use food containers for beach service and use only 100% recycled compostable straws
- Source house goods from sustainable partners
- Shop & support local
Sustainability is a hot topic right now. Is it here to stay or is this a trend?
I believe sustainability is here to stay and it’s trending in the younger generation. We need to make an impact on how important sustainability is as a whole if want to have our future generations enjoy the beauty we have around us.
What are some brands/individuals your see making the biggest impact?
We work with so many brands that are making an impact at 1 Hotel South Beach and the community.
We have partnered with CARAVANA at our 1 Beach Club, a sustainable clothing brand made from indigenous communities around Mexico.
Mijenta Tequila, a sustainable artisanal tequila that we work with for our programming and activations.
Pathwater — our refillable water bottles, forging the path to end single-use plastic bottles.
Audi- we work with Audi to introduce the Official Electric Vehicle of 1 Hotel, the Audi e-Tron. We invite guests to enjoy the Audi Electric Vehicle during their stay.

What is on the calendar at 1 Hotel to celebrate Earth Month?
Full Moon at Earth Month- with the full moon comes the changing of the tides, cosmos, and energy. To respect the rise of each full moon, we host a celebration at every hotel. At 1 Hotel South Beach, we partner with mindfulness and sustainable brand, Kanekshun, to facilitate a sound bath, mediation, and sustainable spirit-based cocktails.
Earth Month Signature Cocktails are featured throughout April at all our venues made with Mijenta sustainable tequila and fresh, organic, local ingredients.
Earth Day Beach Clean Up with Mijenta Tequila and Debris Free Oceans.
Earth Day Grounding Ceremony with Kanekshun- Guests are invited to come close with nature as you ground your toes in the sand and take in this sunset meditation. Feel the sounds of the crystal singing bowls and chimes as you honor the earth.
At GLEAM, our mission is to provide mentorship and leadership development to underrepresented professionals in the restaurant and foodservice industry. Can you share with us a mentor who has made an impact on your professional career?
My current leader Gabriel Rivera, Director of F&B and Culinary Operations at 1 Hotel South Beach has been an impactful mentor for me for the last four years that I have been working under his leadership. He challenges me and supports me in my role. He has been my biggest cheerleader and biggest critic all at the same time. He has taught me so much and has groomed me to the leader I am today. Funny story, I started my career in hospitality 13 years ago at The Ritz-Carlton South Beach in the Catering Department and he was the Food and Beverage Director when I was there. 13 Years later and we have come full circle. He is a huge advocate for sustainability and ensures that all our F&B on the property is locally sourced, sustainable, and items are given a “second life”.

Thank you, Tatiana. This has been very insightful. How can our readers follow you on social media?
You can follow me on Instagram to stay up-to-date on all of my events and activations.
